ABOUT

W. Scott Sager is a minister, professor, speaker and community leader committed to disciple-making and raising up spiritual leaders.

Sager joined the Lipscomb University leadership team as Vice President for Church Services in July, 2011 after a 15-year stint as senior minister at the Preston Road Church of Christ in Dallas.

In his current role, Sager leads a gathering of over two-thousand church leaders each summer, hosts regional conferences, publishes a magazine called Intersections, teaches in the Bible Department and also serves the president as a resource to equip and train church leaders.

In 2017, Sager also began preaching 36 Sundays a year for the Green Hills congregation that meets next to the Lipscomb campus.

Sager completed his doctorate in Evangelism from Southern Methodist University under William Abraham, where his project thesis, “A Time to Heal” was recognized by SMU as outstanding work. The health clinic he started has been instrumental as a model helping congregations around the country start similar health ministries.

Prior to moving to Dallas, Scott was the Campus Minister at the University of Texas. In Austin he met Suzanne (Matula) Sager, his wife of 26 years, and they now have two children, Anna (college senior) and Will (college freshman).

Scott is an Abilene Christian University alumnus and was recognized as ACU Honor Man in 1987. He was involved on campus in many different activities including serving as Student Body President. He studied for a semester in Jerusalem while in graduate school, and now leads a trip to Israel each summer.

Scott continues to work with Boy Scouts whenever possible, and contributes his love for nature and the outdoors to the years he spent in scouting obtaining the Eagle Scout and God and Country Awards. Scott serves on the Executive Board of the BSA for Middle Tennessee and on the board of the Christian Relief Fund in Amarillo focusing on AIDS-orphans in Africa and deep-well water projects.
